And when it was time to discuss possible contact from the outer reaches of space, his was not a vision of Star Wars, or Star Trek or Alien. But rather his vision was produced after his death in a movie dedicated to his memory, that did not take human militarist fantasies into outer space. But rather nurtured a hope, that whatever was out there in whatever form of consciousness, that could travel through the time seams of space, was almost certainly more evolved than the consciousness of hundred centuries of the human condition. Carl Sagan has left behind a vacuum, that so needs to be filled.

I went to college not far from Ithaca where he was teaching. I always regretted not going down and sitting in one of his lectures.
