Now there's a phrase I haven't heard much since the good ol' "Duck and Cover" days of my childhood. (Yep, I'm that old.) Another phrase has popped into my mind: "Nuclear Winter".

Can NO-ONE stop this insane miserable excuse for a human being from taking office?? And no, I'm not suggesting anything untoward. I also clearly recall November 22, 1963, a painful memory indeed.

If I weren't an atheist, I'd be inclined to say, Lord help us all!

That is correct. So is the part about the Duck and Cover drills in grade school. An alarm would sound and we little sheeple would jump under our desks post haste, then cover our heads with our arms. The "Red Threat" was pounded into our tiny brains in the lessons we learned about Evil Communism, the also-Evil Russians (the term MVD sticks in my mind), children turning their parents in for not being the party faithful, and of course the nuclear threat that demanded the US match the USSR weapon for weapon. As an aside, I had a teacher who insisted USSR stood for United States of Soviet Russia. Talk about uninformed! Of course, the horrors of WWII were just being revealed in excruciating detail, adding to the fear factor, and I had a classmate in 4th grade who loved sharing in graphic detail how the Japanese tortured our prisoners in their camps. Also, word was, if you heard an airplane in the sky 'way up above, but didn't see it, it was the enemy about to drop one of those dreadful A-bombs and we would all be pulverized.

Well, I just shared more than you ever wanted to hear, I'm guessing. Gosh, when I look back on those days, it's a wonder I turned out normal at all. Hmmm...come to think of it, maybe I didn't, but also didn't spent years on a psychiatrist's couch, so maybe that's a good sign. Okay, that's enough. Be safe and blessings to you.

I remember being in kindergarten and having to go downstairs to the scary basement for those drills. I also spent a couple of days in a home bomb shelter during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I marched on the front lines for women's rights, I helped occupy a building on my campus for minority students, I marched in Madison for our union rights.

I think the anticipation will kill us off-I am unsure of what will happen in 2017, but 2016 sucked!
