4. Such a sad episode in the US history, then and now. JP / US / DE / .....

All countries have practiced exclusion, many to the point of annihilating populations within and outside their borders.

Not to excuse what is happening in current US politics; but I believe that there are hundreds of examples within the last hundred years where groups of people (races, tribes, skin color, sex/orientation, language, poor/rich) have been treated well below any humane standard.

I also believe that much progress has been made over many decades. It is particularly sad to see how much the US has slipped backwards to a 1950's or even a southern/white-superiority mentality in the last few months. It almost seems like something/one is fomenting this.
