Watch My Lips: Avoiding Making A Complete Ass Of Yourself Does Not Constitute "Presidential"
Ah...I see the modern Know-Nothing Party's secret weapon was in use again tonight. That weapon would be 'The soft prejudice of low expectations' when it comes to their politicians. George Bush started it, Sarah Palin continued it, and Donald Trump has perfected it to a science. The beltway pundits really grade our political leaders on a curve. Clinton uses a private email server, and she's a villain. Trump somehow manages to make it through one day without dropping his pants, and tweeting a picture of his ass to 300 million people, and suddenly he's 'Presidential.'
But let's get back to reality, people!
I know we're all living in the Twilight Zone at the moment, but let's put this back into perspective. For a change, Trump let somebody who knew what they were doing write his speech, and for once he actually rehearsed it a couple of times before hand. He reads at about Grade 5 level, but with practice a ten year old CAN read MLK's 'I Have A Dream' speech, or Kennedy's 'Ask Not What Your Country Can Do for you' speech, and sound half way decent.
Managing to read somebody else's speech WITHOUT....
-Going off script and raving about the size of your election win
-Making cartoon faces
-Gesticulating like a lunatic
-Mocking the disabled
-Bullying people
-Threatening to jail your political opponents
-Promising to commit war crimes
-Insulting the integrity of entire races and religions
-Blathering in endless, run-on sentences
or
-Whipping out your dongle and urinating on the podium...
...does NOT suddenly define you as being "PRESIDENTIAL"
The fact that this guy managed to make ONE SPEECH, without making a total ass of himself does not mean he's actually QUALIFIED for this job. Regardless of what Van Jones or Turtleface say....he is still NOT Presidential.
