2. I spellled it differently but I named my German Shepherd

after him. He was one hell of an awesome dog. He was the poster child of what a German Shepherd is supposed to be like.

Studs (after Studs Terkle), Max (Baron Maximillian of Hanover was his AKC name), Gypsy (Gypsy Rose Leigh after my wife and daughter), and Nasha.
Nasha was a 2 year old rescue who came with a name.
1972 - 2005.

4. My first German Shephed was Sydney.

I got into my accident and Sydney was adopted to a doctor and his family. Because of my accident I can not remember if Sydney was a boy or girl. My second was my beloved service dog ( Shultz Von Patchwork ) he was also AKC. He slipped down a flight of stairs and slipped a disc. I was able to keep him comfortable for a year then had to put him down ( I was devastated. ) My third German Shepherd was ( Freja Vom patchwork ) whom I got from the same breeder. She developed a hip problem ( not breeder related ) and at that time I could not support two large dogs when one had a health problem and a friend took her despite the health problem and she is happy as a clam. I can visit her whenever I want. The breeder had a saying one her website once "If it isn't a German Shepherd it isn't a dog."

5. Our daughter grew up with German Shepherds.

She is our only child, 45 now.
"When ever I see a German Shepherd I feel like it's a sibling."

My very first one I got from a pound in Tuscaloosa when I was a student at the U. of A.

She looked like a big rat, practically hairless.
The pound lady assured me she was a German Shepherd.
After a few weeks of decent food and some TLC, turned out she WAS a German Shepherd. Silver in color.
That was the beginning of my love affair.

6. My Shultz was so perfect in my mind.

He was great with everyone young and old. There were things I actually did not teach him that he would do for me to help me with my disability. He was like a genius of the dog world. You gain a extremely tight bond with a service dog. I have had dogs I absolutely loved but it is on an entirely different level when you are depending on that dog to help you. I worked at an animal shelter where I found a German Shepherd who had been given up by her family because there was no way they could afford to get her into the country they had to move to. I could not have another dog at the time so I called my brother and told him and he talked to his wife and then I drove all of the way from Walla Walla Washington to Portland Oregon with a German Shepherd and a Schnauzer who she had just met that day. They were perfect. I fell in love with German Shepherds when my riding teacher had four and my best friend had one when we were small.
