(11,085 posts)And I ask you, how does that benefit the billionaire? Trump's budget will save them a tiny fraction of a percent on their taxes, at the low, low cost of starving children, seniors, and poor people. These are people the billionaire will never see at his country club, and will never spend money at Mar-a-Lago. (Mar-a-Lago. Wasn't that the name of a villain's lair in a James Bond movie?)

(16,104 posts)Mulvaney is completely ignoring the other side of the equation.
When you go to that "single mother of two" and tell her you can't honestly ask her for money to feed the elderly and provide early education or afterschool programs for children, are you saying, "Here. Take your money back?"
Fuck no!
No, that money goes to Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Northrup Grumman, and United Technologies.
Those CEO's are hurting just as much as that 80-year-old shut-in is starving, and they deserve a little of our collective compassion. And that next fucking Lockheed Martin cruise missile is a demonstrable result - along with more brown and black people dead somewhere else in the world.
It's disgusting they even propose insanity like this.

(12,882 posts)needs to have EVERY SINGLE THING that taxes afford his daily life, withheld from him for a month. No roads, no health care, no clean water, no school for any kids in his family (unless he's paying their tuition), no fire or law enforcement, no flushing his human wastes into public sewer systems, no stringent rules for the purity of his foods - NONE of that SUPERFLUOUS shit that yacht-lounging fat cats help society survive with! Sadly, there's NO ONE on OUR side who can do a damned thing about halting the rape and pillage that the GOP and their pen-weilding clown are in full swing of perpetrating. Those that COULD protest - get funded by the same special interests that pay to keep the GOP in power. We'd have single payer already if health insurance companies didn't have lawmakers gonads in vises.

(497 posts)Spend. First of all, Meals on Wheels is a congame. Shows no difference whether they eat or starve...really. And school feeding of the hungry is another con...tests show it just stops kids from starving...they don't do better on our tests...so, cry me a river you liberal nellies. We want to spend more on killing and war and those don't come cheap. After all, a hammer costs the Pentagon $600, if you remember.

(14,887 posts)his own justification for cutting social programs. He needs results. He needs to know that tax money is being used 'in a proper fashion'. Since when is the incredible waste in the military industrial complex, tax money being used 'in a proper fashion'?

(10,377 posts)"since the 70's"... how much has been spent on "defense" in that time? And saying a single mother in Detroit is being taxed for this is ludicrous. A 0.1% tax increase on the billionaires in Trump's cabinet would cover all of this, with some left over....
