The citizens are delusional if they think that they even a shred of power in determining policy. The nation is not a Republic, but a Plutocracy run by the extremely rich solely for their benefit. I have very little sympathy for the situation that the citizens find themselves in. They have allowed a minority to take total control of the reins of government, ranging from local and state levels to the nation's capital. Let's admit it, the Democratic Party is a toothless sham with only a handful of representatives who are committed to protecting the rights of the working middle class. The only support that they give to the unions is to show up for a handout at election time. The Republican Con Artist only had to latch onto the very same message as Sanders to gain their support and win the election. He had no problem coning these rubes, he had been doing that for years. The media failed the people just as the have time and time again. They provided him with a degree of authenticity rather than calling him just what he is. Nothing more than a Demagogue.

Take the present situation regarding the ACA or as the Republicans tagged it "Obama Care" to rally the ignoramuses to oppose it because it was most importantly the legislation of that "Black Guy" in the White House. This is a proven fact. When Republicans were polled about the ACA and its provisions they were in favor of its provisions, but as soon as they were polled when it was identified as "Obama Care" they unanimously condemned the vary same provisions.

Sanders handed the Democrats the answer and it has fallen on deaf ears. Why? Simply because the Democrats are as much in the take from Big Phama and the insurance rip offs as the Republicans. Now is the perfect time to offer Single Payer. It is without doubt the only solution. Yet what is the response of our so-called representatives, nothing that amounts to a tacit support of the lousy system that is far short of a actual solution.

Good Luck, America I will not be around a hell of lot longer and if the younger folks fail to come to their senses they are going to find this nation will only have limited opportunities to offer. In reality it will not be much different than the structures in China and Russia where their is a powerful wealthy ruling class and a select educated class that will be solely dependent on ruling class for their wellbeing.
