As you know, Republican politicians and staffers are kept in line by the promise of a big fat Wingnut Welfare job after their retirement. If they've faithfully served their plutocrat masters by delivering giant tax cuts to billionaires, screwing the poor, and removing all regulations from businesses...they're rewarded with a Wingnut Welfare job on retirement.
What you might not know is that Wingnut Welfare has three retirement plan levels:
GOLD PLAN: If your career was reasonably dignified, you're rewarded with a Fellowship at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), funded by the Kochs. (ie-Paul Wolfowitz, or David Frum, before he dared to criticize the GOP and had his Fellowship yanked.)
SILVER PLAN: If you were a slightly clownish 'culture warrior' you're rewarded with a position at the Heritage Foundation, also funded by the Kochs. (ie-Jim DeMint)
BRONZE PLAN: If you were an embarrassing crook, a convicted felon, or a total disgrace...you're stuck having to accept a gig as a pundit 'commentator/contributor' at Faux News. (ie-Newt Gingrich, Oliver North, Mark Furhman, Sarah Palin.)
It's more or less an insult to be stuck on the Bronze Plan. It identifies you as a high profile partizan assclown, who sacrificed ALL PERSONAL DIGNITY to make a career of juggling, dropping your pants, and taking pies to the face in the service of your plutocrat masters.
Chaffetz, apparently, has been handed a Bronze Plan on retirement. I'm sure he's disappointed. GOOD!
Best part of this interview: at the 3:10 mark where he starts whining about U.S. Congressmen getting paid so little (at $174,000, plus unlimited expenses) that he and Paul Ryan are forced to sleep on cots in their offices ("Good morning cleaning staff! Sorry about all the dirty underwear on the floor, the skidmarks on the couch, and the smell of B.O., but a little FABREEZE should take care of it!" because they can't afford two homes on a this poverty-level salary. And suggests that Congressmen should get an extra $30,000 a year as a housing allowance.
Does Fox really think having this little rat-turd of a man as a talking head on their network will boost ratings? No way. This is pure quid-pro-quo payola.
Well done, Jason! Have fun sharing a make-up mirror with Karl Rove!

Perhaps he and the wife should have been living in something a little more modest until after he'd cashed in on all those insider tips that Congressmen get that we don't.
That plus wanting to dodge the Russian shit hitting the Trumper fan combined to make him skedaddle while skedaddling was good.

(111,267 posts)The solar cover (a necessity out west) is a little deceptive. It also lookw like there's a basketball/tennis court combo behind it. You can rotate the image 360 degrees to get a better look.
Other than the amenities, it's a pretty typical McMansion, a large and jumbled heap of masonry capped by a ridiculous roofline.

(5,954 posts)How about the Secret Service digs out his old application to join the Secret Service from 20 years ago, and they put him on duty guarding Trump? He'll have to guard him physically, for a change. And not just rhetorically from behind a select committee desk.
