It's about corruption. It's about being paid to lose. It's about the long con. We can love the Democratic party and its principles and ideals, and also call out those elements of it that run counter to those principles.

My Senators are Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth. My Representative is Jan Schakowsky. I love these people and what they stand for. I value and respect them and their public service.
There was a time when people valued and respected their public servants. It's a shame that people who put.themselves out there get abused the way President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were abused.

So what made them Democrats during Hillary's campaign. If we say their elegance is to who ever they raise money for than today they are no longer Dems.
My guess is that they raise money for a living and do not have a political motive.

The American people demonstrated in the last election that they are sick of this system, it's one of the reasons Trump won. His followers believed him when he spewed his populist lies.
I am curious, do any of the people who posted above believe in Progressive policies and trying to get the money out of politics, just not in Cenk, or are they against it all?

(58,785 posts)they need to understand is that the biggest problem in politics is that some of the people can be fooled all the time--because they insist on it. And those fools can be and are used, not only to enable enormous corruption, but to take over nations and topple governments. Might want to read about what's happened to Poland quite recently. Without determined fools, there would be very little corruption.
On that subject, did you know that Cenk has swung all over the place from far left to far right ideologically, but has been oh-so-concerned about Democratic Party "corruption" from all positions?
Or that Jefferson and Madison were liberals who both sent packing people like him who tried to horn in and explain all they were doing wrong? John Adams was a moderate traditional conservative, and Alexander Hamilton a strong conservative, but they both had also zero tolerance for the extremists trying to set them all straight in those days.
I've read DU since the Bush days, but become increasingly disheartened at the posters that continue to defend the party even when there are obvious problems. Are Democrats better than Republicans & Trump? 1000% yes. But we need to stand by the Democratic principles and work toward making the party even better.

(2,809 posts)DU itself is a forum discussing such problems. Democrat politicians certainly aren't immune to corporate influences, the for-profit prison part is most bothersome, indeed.
We had our option, we failed to topple the corporate influences that usurped most of our number one choice, ended up divided and conquered. We would still be facing far better economic odds under "Stronger Together" than MAGA ever intended to begin with.
Willfully surrendering to the lesser of the evils, yes. Very few here claim the Democratic party is pure to it's ideals, the discussions are all part of attempts to understand and reconcile these problems. We would be embroiled far deeper in these exact discussions under a Clinton presidency by now.
I'll still accept the corporate corruption of Democrats over the hasten-the-mass extinction and blatant misanthropy of the Uglicans any day of the week.

(11,257 posts)The issue at hand is corrupt lobbyists, and how corruption changes the way Democratic politicians act, and for whom they act.
We know that the GOP is a completely corrupt organization, from stem to stern. But it isn't too much to hope that the Democratic party can recognize the rot in the system, and think about ways of protecting itself against that rot.
If you argue with that, you are objectively pro-corruption.

Neither one of them has anything damning in it at all. One of them has the word "Breitbart" in it, because the author put it there, for no reason that I can see. The other talks about a Republican, who is also an opponent of corrupt money in campaign financing, investing in the company. That's it. As should be obvious, Republicans can be against corruption, too, even though most of them aren't.
Everything else in both articles is neither surprising nor damning, and are things that Cenk himself talks about.
What really seems to get under people's skin is that he is trying to fight corruption. Why do people think that makes him their enemy?
