(8,692 posts)They aren't even choosy, they even love grocery store deli Chinese food, they like the meat entrees a lot better here. They also like Americanized Vietnamese and Japanese food, but don't care for Americanized Thai or Korean.

(445 posts)Lo Mein literally means mix noodles. Lo translates to the word mix and mein is the word for noodles so chicken lo mein is chicken mixed with noodles, and beef lo mein means beef mixed with noodles. So in the video, I totally get what she was saying about the lo mein dish she got--there was no noodles in it whatsoever! By the way, I don't think Panda Express is too bad either. Sure, some of their items aren't authentic but they still taste pretty good (except the eggrolls).

Chinese and Mexican immigrants developed novel and entirely authentic cuisines based upon the wholesale food markets of the western U.S.A. and the preferences of those they were serving food to.
Indian restaurants worldwide, serving various "curries" that are are not especially native to India, have similar origins.
U.S. American pizza is another food that evolved here.
Innovation can be good.
I've heard even food in England is much improved these days compared to what it was when I was there in the 'seventies and vegetables were not considered edible until they were boiled into mush.
