I was taught long ago never to argue with a crazy person. Yet that is exactly what several op-eds suggest I do.
From establishment pieces in the NYT to the liberal Huffington Post to Bernie Sanders, I am told to reach out Trump supporters by trying to find common ground", focus on their "economic issues", or tell them we are fighting for their health care.
This is stupid, because they can always be counted on to vote against their self-interest. However, people have a hard time accepting this reality, and I could never find the right words to articulate why they do this.
D.L. Hughley didbrilliantly. Its all good, but the key part starts at the 1:50 mark.
He pulled his words from the Bible. 1 Kings 3:16-26 NIV

The right-wingers have certainly for a long time had local examples of people threatening to blow up everything, just to get even with progressive, Democrats, etc. Of course the Republican leaders very gleefully came close to the idea of reneging on funding the federal government. This happened multiple times, and probably sooner or later it will happen in fact.
They certainly don't behave like adults, but more like children in the book, "Lord of the Flies."
I think that almost all of the house and Senate Democrats have been blathering such idiocy for so long that they find it hard now to take their feet out of their mouth and do the right thing.
But who the hell knows?
