I have mixed feelings. The GOP of today is so corrupt and fascist - voter suppression, foreign collusion, stolen elections. The evil I see today scares the shit out of me. The evil that people saw in the 1960's scared the shit out of them. Our evil today has always been around.

Is America destined to be a plutocratic society? Has it always been a plutocratic society?

Democracies are slow to anger and react to evil threats. If we do not fight evil, our democracy is doomed. I do not know the best way to conduct this fight, but we must fight or we will lose what our founders created.

My personal view is that we must fight every and any way we can. The consequence of this fight is frightening. We may well be faced with "How does democracy die? With a bang or whimper?" Americans have always been willing to fight in foreign wars. Are we willing to fight in the war now being waged on our democracy? I am.

Thank you for sharing them

(Not that I don't care, but I'm so tired after a very long week, I wouldn't even know where or how to start)

To be revisited!

Thanks for posting this video. I had never heard it before. The lyrics give a good general idea but loved hearing this perspective.

My post was heartfelt and I would love to continue the discussion at a later time. Thank you for your response to me!

Neil Young and Steven look SOOOOO young (no pun intended). I worry about who is going to appreciate my vinyl when I am gone soon. Someone on DU suggested a few months ago that I have someone sell it (each album) individually on ebay so that real record lovers would pay for each record as opposed to my whole collection who would most likely just sell it for the money. I do NOT want anyone to profit off of it, but to love and appreciate each piece as I have. If I wanted money I could sell it myself right now. I think that is probably what I will do. I have so many "collectibles" but to me they are personal memories, like my set of BEATLES bubble gum rings, guitar picks, etc.

Thanks for posting!

About 16' of records, all loving stored alphabetically by type and artist. When my previous marriage broke up and I was living in a motel in San Jose, Ca., my soon-to-be ex sold them all to someone who really saw her coming and was 'willing' to pay her about $1.00 per album - Beatles, Airplane, Stones, Buffalo Springfield, PP&M, Woody Guthrie, Moody Blues, CCR,and the like.

Treasure what you have now.
