The 12 Angry Men quote sounds like the statements made about the Irish, then the Italians, then the Puerto Ricans, Jamaicans, etc. ad nauseam. We haven't changed in 200 years and seems we keep slipping every time we try to move forward.

All this disgusting shit was the same thing I heard, as Irish American no less, going up, all the while being raised by a daughter of a slave. When she died, the family she had worked for over 30 years had to be shamed into paying for the cheapest possible funeral. The family didn't think anything they were saying was wrong, when they called her a good n*******, they meant it as a compliment. Standing up and walking out of the house when that shit was said was considered the most offensive thing that could be done. Like I gave a fuck and had to ask out of a lot of "family" dinners.

We have moved too far forward since.
