PSA: The Tired Old "Selling Plans Across State Lines" Trope Is Bull$#!t.

Why is there only ONE GUY on ONE NETWORK that has ever bothered to puncture the Republican talking point balloon about selling health insurance plans across State lines as a free market panacea to healthcare? Republicans have repeated this trope so often that it's now considered to be a fact. But there has never been a federal restriction preventing health insurance plans across state lines.

Some STATES have passed laws against it to prevent JUNK POLICIES from being sold to people in their State. So, I guess that's what they're after. Eliminating a federal minimum level of coverage for healthcare plans, followed by HMOs selling you a health insurance plan for $5 per month, and hiding the fact that you're not covered for anything beyond bandages and aspirin in the fine print. Aka "Giving people the FREEDUMB to buy a plan that suits THEM, instead of being told what to buy by some mean old bureaucrat in WARSHINGTON!" as the GOP likes to put it.

People can buy policies that are great as long as they don't get sick. When they do, they will discover they saved a little money only to waste the rest.

By allowing employers to sewer shop across state lines, to buy junk insurance instead of policies that require essential benefits coverage, the majority of insured Americans are now going to experience the rude awakening that they too are completely vulnerable to health insurance gouging and insecurity.

Democrats were not emphatic on this basic fact in their fight against Trumpcare. Now with Trumpcare literally being enacted by
his own fiat, the cruel realities of Trump/Republican "health austerity" will now be experienced by the majority of Americans, with the exception of the wealthiest and the Congress.

PS Of course this is also a backdoor route to destroy both Medicaid and Medicare.
