I remember that day like it was yesterday. I have 5 children of my own, and one of them (my "princess", the apple of daddy's eye) is the exact same age as the victims of Sandy Hook. She was 6 that day and is 11 today. I have gotten to see and cherish her childhood and witness her transition into adolescence over these past 5 years, but the anguish I felt for the parents of those kids who died that terrible day has not subsided one bit.

The horror of the act, the carnage of that day and the fact that NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING has changed legally or morally or philosophically in this nation since that day - and only more horrors like Orlando and Las Vegas and more - is soul-crushingly obscene. Children, barely more than babies, were SLAUGHTERED because of access to firearms and ammunition and a society that has become utterly unmoored from compassion and our better angels.

I send out vibes of support to those parents once again today. I hugged my princess and sent her off to middle school today, knowing that I am fortunate to still have her and still be able to do such little things as get her another piece of toast this morning...those parents of Newtown deserved that same experience...but they have been failed by this country in so many ways since that horrible morning that I am literally wiping tears of rage our of my eyes as I type this...

The only other thing I want to say is I hope there is an actual hell and that the likes of Alex Jones are assigned priority access to it.

Godspeed comfort and support to the Newtown families today, and every day.

but I feel that rage too. I'm so angry that nothing, absolutely NOTHING has been done to prevent this from happening again.
Damn it.

I was still working (retired now). Remember back to about 1955 or so, which means I have seen a lot. This was one of the worst, which is saying a lot.

Thanks for posting.
