Papantonio: The Endless Supply of Right Wing Hate

President Obama has been the source of countless conspiracy theories since before he ever stepped foot into the oval office. Whether it was his alleged friendship with Reverend Wright, those death panels Sarah Palin warned us all about, the FEMA concentration camps for Republicans, the birth certificate – the list is endless with examples. And all of these conspiracies theories take a toll on American voters, but they also underscore the hatred that the right wing tea partiers have towards Obama. Mike Papantonio talks about how these theories affect the president and voters with Mark Potok, a senior fellow with the Southern Poverty Law Center.

2. They have certainly made it a very depressing country IMO. The hatefulness runs so deep and

spills into other areas too IMO. Here, it's relentless, the hate ads on TV, for example, just never end. AM radio is full of it and now it has really crept into FM too. And then there's the internet. You can't even put an Obama sign up, for example, without it being stolen by the republicans. What hatefulness.

Bush did some confiscation, allegedly, during Katrina in NOLA. And people were shipped off to FEMA camps from NOLA, also, allegedly.

The thing that really chaps them is that Obama has not what they claimed. He didn't do what their conspiracy said he would as part of his evil plan. Like confiscating guns, the Obama youth squads coming to get them and sending people to FEMA camps. Their fears never materialized.

This stuff is some of the fire in the belly of the Tea Party, Ron Paulistas, etc. Obama has ignored all calls from any side to do any of those things. Now they blame him for the mass shootings, say it's the new plot to seize their guns. The ACA's a plot to put us under mind control or kill us.

People don't think well when they're afraid, and are very suggestible listening to hate radio, CT and wackos like Beck. But their ideas are becoming more mainstream, even used by Romney.

7. Republicans are showing the desperation of a dying party.

Maybe not this election or the next, but surely after that. They will need a turnaround infusion of new blood (not age,but ideas).Remake or be gone. The old rich white guy desperation is totally unfit for our present age. The dishonesty they are showing in manipulating everything they can is unworthy of even the "big city boss" politics of a century or more ago. The political bosses then at least did improve the lots of their constituents. Those who vote against their own interests? They don't seem to feel simply that they'll be part of the one percent in future. Many seem to feel that the 1% truly are smarter and more deserving. I base this on political calling work that I do, and my own background in education. The attitude that younger people can be anything they want is naive of course, but many are at least calling bullshit of the worship of the uber wealthy. Some of them worked for and "built it," many others inherited the advantages. The "Occupy" movement seems to have faded, but preceded, ironically, the perfectly illustrating Republican candidate.

I have friends and relatives that totally lap this stuff up. a cut and paste from a recent email:

Obama is coming for your guns.

Fast and Furious was a plot to outlaw guns

Obama cheated his way through college and paid millions to have his transcripts destroyed

Obama is an elite Leninist that hates America

Obama instructs his justice dept to behave like jack booted thugs (unlike Reagan)

No president in history has spent over a million dollars to keep his records and his past sealed.

He has fought for abortion procedures and opposed rulings that protected women and children, that even Planned Parenthood did not seek to support.

He is openly hostile to business and aggressively hostile to Israel.

His wife treats being the First Lady, as her personal American Express Black Card

He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed.

His narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequalled.

He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement – while America’s people go homeless, hungry and unemployed

Obama views his office as an entitlement? Now does that make him the Lord God King Buufu of all nigger* welfare queens or what?

if we are ever going to be honest. The last few Democratic presidents have put up with some amazing crap, but the stuff thrown at President Obama has reached a new low. The Republicans haven't been the "loyal opposition" for a long time, but have increasingly become more interested in destroying the Democrats than compromising to run the country. Now they've even started admitting their agenda. Many in Congress are blatant about their lack of interest in actually doing their constituents' business.
