2. Ben and I go way back.

I was introduced to him when a certain hard-core Libertarian relative enthusiastically gave my 17-year-old daughter a copy of Ben's then-new first book, Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America's Youth, for her birthday. She wasn't particularly interested, thank goodness, but I wanted to see what Shapiro's premise was and why this relative was so enamoured of him.

After reading the first 20 pages or so, I closed the book and went to my girl's room. I told her about what I'd read, and she made a face and said "donate it." I couldn't bring myself to spread his poison, though, so I tore each page out and put it in the shredder, where it belonged.

Ben and I lasted only as long as it took me to read those 20 pages (and I'm not sure how I got that far before gagging). It was one of the happiest breakups of my life.

3. What an ahole

I'm glad they jumped on the strawman he developed right away and offered a good analysis to reveal the bs he pulls. The moment Shapiro started, I thought what the hell is he talking about as he was making an argument no one would make.
I love how miserable these aholes get by this movie. Makes my experience even better when I eventually watch it.
