and citizens are smart enough to know that starting a gun rights group would cause problems. My guess is that Bolton was greasing the wheels for an orderly transfer of funds to the US NRA to benefit Russia-friendly republicans, such as tRump.. The NRA had to look like they had an interest in Russia that would explain the money should someone find out about it.

It is the ability to vote. The only thing guns will guarantee is violence. Ironically voting is not guaranteed in the constitution, but supposedly guns are.

I can think back to my childhood where Republicans were terrified of Russians. You would never suggest being cooperative with Russians or you'd be arrested as a spy or traitor. There were Russians behind every tree and terrified students under every desk. The Russians sent the Beatles to the US to ruin the minds of children/teens (although we did put on quite a display when they were around). From the time I was a teenager to adulthood, I was always on guard for Russian influence. Then, I grew up and forgot all about them.

My parents were Republicans (although I always suspected my father voted more Democratic than Republican). They would be horrified with today's Republican party, definitely with Trump/Pence and disgusted with Ryan and McConnell. I recall many arguments between my grandmother and my father. Dad loved to aggravate Grandma about Republicans and Grandma thought he was a traitor to the family and her father (who would only read Republican newspapers. In fact, she had a parakeet named Herb after a Republican-leaning newscaster. She was legally blind and once sat on Herb...thus, he became a former parakeet named Herb.)

Anyway, every time I see another Republican having a connection with a Russian, I think back to the 50s and what a major
"No-No" that would have been. This didn't just happen with Trump. When did it come about? I could understand a couple here or there having relations with a Russian, but it seems like half the Republicans in DC have been there/done that.

Maybe I just need another cuppa to wake my brain up.
