They made the only good choice under the circumstances, though the BEST choice would have been staying the hell away from the psychotic Trumpkin to begin with. Restoring some semblance of normalcy to our society after Trump is going to be a long, hard slog. Too bad more people didn't realize that BEFORE Election Day...

(2,574 posts)She was clearly their Golden Meal Ticket but also their Elephant in the Room. Scripts reflected this same strange, uncomfortable avoidance/compliance for challenging or confronting this Roseanne centric universe. (ex Jackie was allowed back in the household only after SHE apologized to Roseanne for voting for Hilary over Trump, you can be Roseanne's "good" Muslim neighbor if you give her your password, and, of course, it's ok to fight for black or gay rights for your own kids ) Story lines raised real issues but resolved them by pure fantasy ...peeking in the final episode where FEMA becomes the equivalent of winning the lottery for solving their financial crisis.
It would benefit any network to create a current sitcom that actually presents a struggling family, who voted for Trump out of political/economic despair, as they slowly discover their Sado Populist President is intentionally making their life worse. Bill Maher once mentioned this disillusionment as the only honest route for Roseanne season 2, & I thought it was right. Also way more in sync with the original version of the show.
