Seems to be a sort of survival mentality at DOJ. Rosenstein quoted in today's Wapo, 'in boxing its not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit, and keep on going'. Goes further to say what is true of boxing, is also true of politics and life.

...'cause that's never ever happened before. It's always been a disinterested party when it comes to politics.

These topics have been academic and to some extent used by marketeers.

They are now being used to great effect on whole populations by outside interests.

Not to say that Alexander or Philippe didn't know that to win the hearts and souls might require some food and money. Not to say that Goebbels and most other political operatives haven't already known the levers of psychological power.

But now we can battle test these theories in the lab. We can run a million simulations with thousands of variables on our desktops. If our models are wrong, they can be tweaked. We can identify the weak nodes and the key players. We can look at thousands of years historical data and test our hypotheses. This is game changing. This is what allows modern computers to beat chess masters and old-fart policy analysts. This is what's being used by the real controllers.
