If you want to make a lot of money, influence the court system through appointments or elections (direct or legislative) to rule in your favor. Could be monopolies, prohibitions, pollution that you're seeking. You will need a truck to get it all to the bank.

The divisions are framed as binary, white/black, liberal/con ... but those in charge - the Judiciary committee for example, it's WASP. Avenatti is not a WASP. If he were named Joe Smith they wouldn't demonize him as well.
