"In a segment on whether access to a pair of sneakers costing $300 was a "civil rights issue," Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy and his guest delved into the cultural problems that the black community faces. They asked if this particular sneaker and the outrage over it's price is indicative of a larger problem among African American civil rights leaders who, according to the panel guest, blame shift in order to avoid confronting harsh truths...".* Ana Kasparian, Cenk Uygur, and Jayar Jackson discuss on The Young Turks.

(35,389 posts)and a half last week with a teabagger. The bagger was under the opinion that anyone that receives government assistance of any
kind shouldn't be permitted to vote. She said she didn't think anyone should be entitled to medical care. She felt if you couldn't pay for
medical care or afford insurance you shouldn't get care, period. The scarry part was she kept quoting her husband (a heart specialist).
Needless to say that was a long ride and I didn't feel up to walking 100 miles so I had to hold my temper.

They also go by the same cliches that Jack Welch did when he worked to ensure Bush over Gore. He said Democrats are the party of welfare mothers looking for a father figure. Funny, we're not the ones who love authoritarianism. This propaganda is pervasive and been repeated so long. I know it must have been agony for you. I hope this doesn't happen again.

(35,389 posts)I was able to quote Mitt Romney supporting my side of the argument in the past. Like on abortion, he used to be pro choice.
She brought up the so called War on Coal the right wing is promoting around here, I quoted Mitt Romney saying coal fired power plants kill people and he would not support jobs that kill people. She brought up Obamacare and I said it was patterned after Romneycare. She said well that works fine for a small state like Massachusetts so I quoted Mitt Romney saying the whole nation should have his plan. She brought up the mandate and I said that idea came from the Heritage foundation and Romneycare and Romney said he liked mandates. I saw she was getting quite agitated so I just quit arguing with her and changed the subject.
on edit: With Romney as their candidate it is a peice of cake to argure with them when you can point out a quote from Romney supporting our side. The (only) issue he may be consistant on is tax cuts for the rich, I am not even sure about that. I heard he raised a lot of taxes and fees when he was governor.
