He left the job as chancellor at the University of Texas in Austin when he came down with anemia. He was receiving some mention as a possible Democratic presidential candidate after he stood up to Trump.

And being anemic can be rough! I spent several years being severely anemic, it was tough to function since I felt like I was going to pass out - and did several times. But the admiral not only looks well, but he seems in good humor! You can tell that Colbert was quite impressed with him...
