(24,634 posts)On the critcal point being made
Lots of videos get posted on DU with little or no comment about the salient point being made.
General statements like "why media is bad" doesn't compel me to watch it w/o some context.
Again, a general observation of posted videos, not your post in particular

1. Balance is bias if one side is lying or wrong. You can't give equal time to climate change denial as you do to the scientific consensus because that radically over-exposes a fringe and unscientific group.
2. News competing for ad dollars is toxic and prevents real journalism from happening. Groups that don't have to worry about ad dollars (like HBO's Axios, the BBC, or Australian News services) have better interviews because they don't have to worry about losing ad revenue if they ruffle feathers.
3. Local News is dying, and that's a bad thing because it has been shown to have multiple good effects. Local News encourages participation in politics and discourages the wildly partisan split we see arising from national news stations that are trying to shape their narrative to fit a broader ideology.
4. The news will cover what it thinks people want to see, which is why (for instance) it covered Trump for upwards of $2billion of free airtime during the 2016 election cycle. At the same time, it is afraid of saying that Trump is bad (which he objectively is, and Cody brings the receipts in the video) because once again, you're looking at losing access, losing ad revenue, and losing money.
