Related: About this forumThis interview with a real Conservative Republican shows there's hope after fever breaks.
There is something to the distinct difference between a real Progressives and a real Conservative. It is not about wrong or right it is about different views on human nature and how best to have a society that best functions within its constraints. This interview is probative.
My thoughts post-interview:

(2,461 posts)I loved the discussion on the historical context of the writing of the Constitution. This was a time when John Stuart Mills was being re-written by Thomas Paine, when 'life, liberty and pursuit of happiness' became 'life, liberty and pursuit of property'.
I also appreciate your battle to end the myth of the middle.
Left/right designations have allowed for that myth, and perhaps it worked as a battle cry in the time of Napoleon. 'L'etat, c'est moi' was such an extreme declaration of the independent, atomisitic individual who revolted against the nobility/oligarchic monopoly that was Europe.
Your guest warns against revolution, however, the breaking off from a kind and benevolent (!!!) ruling class was the most successful revolution heading towards an ethic of self-defining individuals - almost to the point of anarchy - had it not been for the in-place wealth guaranteed to those who could subjugate a new sub-group of serfs.
To my mind, it has always been a bit of a lie - and I'm going to guess that is the 30% of the constitution you speak of.
When speaking of coming together between left and right, I do not believe this should be towards an imaginary centre point - nor do I believe that the left want to be serfs with a more benevolent protector (the government) any more than the right want to be Roger
Spaceman 'infinity and beyound'.
I think we need to have more discussions on ethics.
What is the responsibility of the individual in large populations?
The closing remarks on Singapore (a country with if not the highest but right up there income inequality) and its small groups brings to mind for me the role of the church and small tribal religious groups that founded white america.
Go Fund Me can only go so far in a world that is becoming secularized.
This cult of the individual can only expand so far, and then it must evolve.
my 2 cents.
Cheers - Hope you keep producing great provocative videos! Much love
