1. McKinney isn't a "white Texas city"

It's about 60/40 White/non-white. 16-18% Latino, 11.5% AA, 6.2% Asian, 3% other/multiple.

3. Maybe this McKinney place would be a good spot for a Democratic prez candidate

to drop by with national TV cameras in tow and say, "Just what the hell is going on here?"

Make a big stink about this and embarrass them into stopping this purge.

6. I don't think that would work.

A Democratic candidate for the presidency lambasting the city for its misbehavior would not embarrass them. It'd piss them off and make them just dig in deeper and more stubbornly. It would also hurt the candidate who would be accused of grandstanding for his/her political ambition.

Now if someone like the president were to do that, it would have a salutary effect. Unfortunately, we don't have a president at the moment.

McKinney, TX is where Blockbuster used to have it's distribution center. I was lucky to be able to tour it in 1999 while working for a blockbuster franchisee. It was flippin amazing. Fuck you, Netflix for destroying my least hated job of all time!!!

5. Sad tale of white ignorance and hate.

If these white folks could only see what is so evident to the rest of us, that they are taking action against a man whose crime is telling the truth and asking for help, that their reaction to it is racist and hateful to the core, that every one of the white folks in that city who are fighting to have him removed from elected office are giving voice to the ugliness of the Klan, to the Lynch mobs of our troubled past, and spitting in the face of the god they pretend to worship and love -- if they could only see a glimmer of that, they'd change course or at the very least shut up and stay out of the public's business.

Shameful. The city will be known forever by its decision to vote for or against the recall of this just man.
