Why isn't keyboard/mouse/touchpad integration to Smart TV's not a thing?

Seems like a no-brainer for companies like LG, Samsung, etc.

3. tv's don't have touch screen tech or powerful processors yet.....

If you take one apart, you find a couple of layers designed to focus light (fresnal lense and diffusers), a clear lcd panel, and a backlight - usually led's.

The electronics are minimal.

To add touchscreen tech and the compute power would add a lot to the cost.

But why is it needed? As long as you can link a keyboard or mouse using bluetooth, it would do the same thing.

No, you can't do that yet, but at least the tech is already in there.

4. Where ever you need to input data, a BT/WiFi interface should be fairly easy to implement.

You can. I have had my wireless keyboard connected to my Samsung before. When I had Direct TV Now during a short cut the cord period, my wireless keyboard with a touchpad mouse was connected to my tv. It is a Logitech.

6. Trying to get away from a phsical remote.

Why not an app that creates the interface between you and the TV? Phone could have a touch control for every smart TV.

7. There are several on the App Store for iPhone.

For Samsung smart TVs.

I use the remote app for my Apple TV. The Apple TV remote is the worst remote ever made. The app makes Apple TV much, much easier to work with.
