Related: About this forumWest Point Seriously Needs To Take This Asshole's RING Back. Pompeo NPR Interview...
Pompeo graduated first in his class at West Point in 1986. He's now a complete EMBARRASSMENT to that institution, and they should revoke his degree.
Listen to this idiot fumble, and stammer, and eventually stick his own head up his ass, and run away (ending the interview) because NPR reporter Louise Kelly asked him a simple question: Can you point me to any remarks where you DEFENDED your employee, Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch? He can't, because he was INVOLVED in the smear campaign to undermine her.
And THIS asshole got top marks in his West Point LEADERSHIP class? Seriously, their standards must have been REALLY low in 1986.
As if that wasn't bad enough, after retreating to his study, this bloated piece of chickenshit then called the Kelly into his safe space, and yelled at her for several minutes. Saying "Do you think the American people f--ing CARE about Ukraine?! You couldn't even find Ukraine on a map!"
The reporter said "Yes I could" and Pompeo actually told his assistant to (waste their time) and go and GET A MAP of Europe WITH NO WRITING ON IT. Then told Louise Kelly to point out Ukraine...WHICH SHE DID!
(PS-Message to Colonel Blimp: NPR is NOT Fox News! They didn't land their positions as reporters because they look good in a mini-skirt. Unlike Fox 'journalists', If you ask them to find a country on a map...THEY PROBABLY CAN.)
Any foolish optimists who were taking comfort in the fact that Pompeo MIGHT actually be the adult in Trump's room can FORGET it!

(5,814 posts)I didn't know Pompeo when he was a fellow army officer (I was commissioned a 2LT of Field Artillery in 1987), but he reminds me of a certain type of officer that existed then and perhaps long before then. He graduated first in his class at West Point, good for him. Based on how he has acted as CIA Director and then Sec. of State, I can't believe he was ever a committed Army officer, and if he was, he forgot about the officer's motto of the time (Candor, Courage, Commitment). I am only guessing here, but to me he seems like he was the kind of cadet and later, officer who shined when the brass was around and then dicked around when they weren't. He seems like the kind of officer who spent more effort managing his own commander than he did leading his troops. He seems like the kind of officer who was disliked by his troops but whom his superiors loved because he was a ticket punching dancer and prancer and perfumed prince (to borrow some phrases from the late Col. David Hackworth). I can't be certain of this, but to paraphrase Bill Maher, I just know it's true.
Speaking of the West Point, I found very early in my time as an officer that the officers commissioned through West Point were given "priority" over those of us who were commissioned through Officer Candidate School (OCS) or ROTC. I know that this shouldn't have surprised me, but it surely did at the time. West Pointers tend to get the pick of duty assignments, branch, etc. and there is some evidence that they are "protected" somewhat in their careers compared to non-West Pointers. I understand that the government has invested more into their commissions than into other commissions but it seems to me that after commissioning we ought to be put on a level playing field where merit should determine duty assignments, promotability, etc.
The good part about all this is that after watching Pompeo, that obnoxious, pathetic and slobby ex-officer and piss-poor replica of a statesman, I am inspired to get into better shape and lose a few pounds so that I can fit into my old dress blues for special occasions- perhaps Trump leaving office in January 2021.

(5,954 posts)In a few months maybe we can replace a BAD West Point officer like Pompeo, with a GOOD one, like Wes Clark.
