I learned that from Jimmy Carter's autobiography. When he and his family moved into the White House, they were asked what the family liked to eat. They were told that their choices would be easy since that's what the staff also ate. But after the first week they received a bill for their meals - which came to over $600 (back then) and Jimmy was a little taken aback. And I believe it was just Jimmy and Rosalynn, their college aged son and little Amy.
