Dr. John Campbell Vitamin D and immunity

Vitamin D and immunity
Mar 9, 2020

Dr. John Campbell

I have struggled with a vitamin D deficiency for many years.

I take 50 mcg. of vitamin D3 (aka ergocalciferol/cholecalciferol) daily to keep my levels up (the were as low as 9 at one time!).

Would strongly recommend everyone do this as many are deficient in vitamin D3 and are unaware of it.

It cannot hurt to take some and it is inexpensive.

More about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergocalciferol

Take care everyone!

2. My friend is deficient as well

He walks everywhere as he does not have a car and he tested very low too despite the fact he goes outside every day and walks outside every day as well.

Anyone can have a vitamin D deficiency ... make that vitamin D3.

In the olden days, vitamin D deficiency caused rickets, that is why milk has vitamin D added to it. I never knew this!

Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity. This level is many times higher than the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for most adults of 600 IU of vitamin D a day. Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D.

I am suggesting you buy some at the grocery store for abt. $10.

It can't hurt you.

Bolus (a single dose of a drug or other medicinal preparation given all at once) levels can become toxic you are very correct.

They got mine up to 80 at one point.

I was at 30 the last time I was checked which is still a bit too low but much better than 9.

I would NEVER recommend that anyone take bolus levels of vitamin D3 unless you are being tested regularly!

that has been shown to cause toxicity. And the RDA is considered insufficient by many doctors.

Most people I know now have been told to take 2,000 IU, the same level the OP takes, but when I got cancer I was told to take 4,000. My levels were still too low to suit my doctors, so they kept increasing it till I hit 8K -- and that brought my Vitamin D blood levels into the optimal range.

But even 8,000 is way, way less than 60,000.

I was told to buy what I am using by my health care provider, nothing more and nothing less.

I took the large doses in the past and was becoming toxic.

Thank you for your clarification.

I see a nurse.

The cost for this insurance for two persons is $1100 a month!

If I want to see a doctor I have to say the word DOCTOR and hopefully I will see one!

What a damn hell.

If it is 70% effective in preventing respiratory viruses in some people according to Dr. Campbell, we are both taking it now.

Many people are D3 deficient and have no idea that they are!

I certainly had no idea. I was tested for it because I have MS and there is a link between D vitamin deficiency and this illness.
