The message from Washington, and the subsequent lack of leadership, was greatly responsible for the people not taking this seriously.
It wasn't some simple mistake, it was a fundamental failure of leadership.
This was several orders of magnitude worse than a "mistake".

Of course now we should forget all that, bury the truth alongside the dead, and move on.

I think not.

regulated Capitalism (they use faux noise and hate radio to call it SOCIALISM) woooh

Then, every time their Socialism for the Rich screws up, or crashes, they rush to call US to bail them out. They call the SOCIALIST policies to try to save their butt. They call the Democrats then say they made mistakes!

So SICK of them DEPLORABLES!

Trump played things down because he was openly worried about the numbers and how they would make him look, so much that he didn't want them to go up if passengers were let off of a cruise ship. Trump made this all about himself, and that's not going to be easy to forget.
