with quotes from the usual anti-Dem NYT opinion board. Surprised Kasie HUnt didn't join the fray and pointed out the 'but her emails' aspect of this. Amy Walter dicredited herself this morning IMHO.

There is and will be a chaotic/failed economy for at least half the population. This chaos will probably last beyond May 2021. This is scary but I give you the real gorilla in the room, Socialism.
There is no sustainable way to maintain the union and save the nation without additional monetary support and structural economic change to hold back the effects of mass starvation, bankruptcies and homelessness. Small businesses, the real ones, face insurmountable problems toward recreating the economy of 3 months ago. If the standard for successful business is to keep the books balanced then there is nothing but despair in the foreseeable future. The reality of indebtedness, individual as well as corporate, municipal, state and federal, prevents the current capitalist system from healing itself without a major and unconscionable purge. At a minimum, all debts must be forgiven. The essential premise of the previous economy was that so long as 70% of the people were able to maintain "life, liberty and pursuit of wealth" it was fine. The metric was the stock market. The usefulness of Wall Street, questionable for 30 years, has already shown it's poor foundation, its failure threatens America's net worth. In the wake of debt forgiveness a New Deal 2.01 will be required. Can't really say what it will be except that it will require extremely intelligent, competent leadership from the top all the way down. Divided government could bring civil war. Democratic elect-ability requires that the shroud be pulled back from the word Socialism. Socialistic policies is what it will take to fix this and that's what the right's propaganda machine will label every possible Democratic proposal.
Biden MUST get ahead of the curve on these realities. Must come across as capable in counterpoint to chaotic, calm and unafraid in the face of the unknown(this thing makes 9-11 look like a walk in the park), assured and assuring in this uncharted wilderness. Because if he wavers or if the right is able to manufacture a case that he has wavered, Trump will win again. Trump's only plan will be to blame the left and convince many to side with him against their own interests. His is the easy job. All the tough times ahead, he can and will successfully waive off as fake news. After all if we had just let it "blow on through" it would be a lot easier (Fauci looks on in horror).
