Indeed, Trump may well be just 'riding the wave' that has been set in motion by mysterious oligarchs. Russian oligarchs do arguably own Trump's debt, and so 'own' Trump himself.

What bothers me, though, at age 61, is how the hell we got to the point where we're letting these whack job Q-Anon types call the shots. In my parents' day, these people would have been laughed out of the room and forced back under their rocks.

I mean, I guess you can look at the antecedent of this is Powell's 1971 Manifesto to the US Chamber, and Reagan's pocket veto of the Fairness Doctrine back in 1987. The result has been decades of sophisticated propaganda designed to isolate us by making us feel like strong, macho, rugged individualists.

Seems like that second guy, the one that said, "Well that's his opinion..." is likely a hard-right Evangelical. One of the bona-fide 'end of days' types, wanting to do his part to hasten the apocalypse.

There's another thread on here that is downright depressing, and our situation IS depressing. But if we win this upcoming election in a big way, we have a chance at getting our republic back - Biden wants to 'build back better,' which is an approach that has both social and environmental justice front and center. But it will take years.

If Trump manages to win...well, it is difficult to think about that because I'm afraid it would end up being a civil war.

I'm too old for this shite, Egberto.

My relatives are liberal, lefty, progressives. They have worked for Democrats, they have all voted for Democrats, every election.

I thank the universe every day for this fortune.

I am the outlier - the black sheep of the family. I am quite a bit left of them all. Oh well, I also vote for Democrats, up and down the ticket, every election. I will push the party platform as far left as I am able.

My nieces and nephews are catching up to me. I cannot tell you how happy that makes me, and how proud it makes me.

I hope we are ready. Get ready! Get set, go.

We need love, and a lot of it.
