didn't Reagan make this remark in response to Carter pointing out that Reagan had opposed the passage of Medicare in 1965?

Reagan denied it, and Carter assumed the media would point this out after the debate. Reagan even made a TV ad in 1965 {I think} talking about how Medicare would destroy America.

The media totally let this pass.

Another instance of the "liberal media" coddling a conservative pol.
