(15,149 posts)Just as they did to Jar-Jar and the Princess Sparkle. They are government figures. LP is absolutely protected by the First Amendment.
I think Don the Con has lost his "take them to court" mojo now. Nobody will buy the threat any more. And I cannot imagine any decent attorney that would work for him.

(1,535 posts)....who is seeing them? It seems that the only place that I see them are here on DU. I wonder if conservative voters ever see these things. Are they effective if Trump supporters don't see them or are they aimed at swing voters?

(90,788 posts)Sometimes micro-targeting, you know, the old audience of one ploy that all of Trumps toadies use, where the only person they are talking to is Trump himself. TLP gets under his skin very personally, and the ad-buy for those is Washington, DC.
The Lincoln Project people are not targeting blue states, because that would be a waste of time and money. The majority of Californians are voting for Biden, guaranteed. Its up to Democrats to bring Democratic messages to Democrats. People who are so deep into Trumpism it amounts to a cult, are likewise a waste of time and money.
Instead, they are working the margins in places Hillary lost on the margins. They are working the Electoral College. They are working at peeling away just enough voters to make this work, to make Trump lose and now theyre working on choice Senators like Graham and McConnell.
Lucky us, we get to see a lot of TLP ads posted at DU, but believe me, we are not their target. Occasionally someone here complains that TLP has not addressed this or that pet Democratic issue, only to be reminded: theyre not targeting Democrats.
Im currently reading Rick Wilsons second book, Running Against the Devil, and I recommend it. It was published in January of this year, so the Pandemic is missing from his calculations, but OTT very informative.

(1,535 posts)....troubled thinking about who may not see The Lincoln Projects stuff. I will continue to tell my conservative friends that they should look at the videos and suggest LP's website.

(4,292 posts)As would Hans Christian Andersen.
Wicked witches threatening to cook and eat children, and dying mermaids pale in comparison to what we now face. (Spoiler alert: the Little Mermaid did not fare so well in the book as did her Disney cinematic character).
And that reinforces TLPs message here. We as a nation should be well beyond fairytales as we decide our future.
Meanwhile much like HC Andersens literary emperor the Cowardly Lyin Traitor continues his naked procession, walking more proudly than ever. (Sorry for that visual, but it reinforces my point here).
