I had a flock of about 20 on my back lawn about 20 years ago. They were feeding at my large apple tree, in October. My son saw them and ran out back to see if he could catch one (he was 10 at the time)....they all bolted off in flight and cleared the trees at the bottom of my property...about 60' high. They can fly hard and fast for a short period of time.

Another time I was driving up my driveway and I had a turkey literally fly accrosws the hood of my truck. Had i been a second or 2 earlier, he'd have flown into my driver's side window. It would not have been a pretty sight...

On edit, I interpreted your can! as can't. Sorry about that.

I live in a tall Manhattan apartment building and a few years ago we had a turkey perched on one of the high-up balconies. He didn't take the elevator.

I have seen turkeys fly in the Pocono Mountains but never in NYC or that high up in the air.
