(866 posts)So many of my old people friends were giddy when they received our final shot. We can see our grandkids and play pickle ball and live. I want to see the young people have that same feeling of joy. Id really like to see my grandkids get shots, but Ill be cautious until that happens.

(23,542 posts)a nightmare for them. Many of them can't understand why so much has changed.

(866 posts)He has autism and is pretty severely affected. We fought so hard for this community placement, but he hadnt had a day program for a year. Im only allowed to see him in the yard, distanced. He wont wear a mask so he really cant go anywhere. He had Covid (asymptotic TG) and is now fully vaccinated. The path back is so hard. Drivers have to be found for transportation. Workers have to be rehired for day programs. Lost employment opportunities have to open up. But....thanks to Joe Biden. There is hope.

(4,291 posts)A couple of my dear friends are proud parents of an adult son with autism. So far, they're caring for him at home. He's been vaxed and otherwise staying safe.
Not sure how long they can continue, but for now the best care for their son still remains within reach. A care situation like what you described may become inevitable, but in the meantime, they do the best they can. And I admire, respect and love them for that.
Stay strong, dog! Stay healthy and safe yourself! There IS a light at the end of this tunnel!! And -- most especially -- I hope you have your own support network of relatives and friends who support you.

(12,423 posts)One was a Lucky Strike album that I think had Mr. Sandman on it, along with "Tennessee Waltz" and a few other late '50s hits. My dad got it from sending in the coupons on Lucky Strike packs. The other was "Danny Kaye Live at the Sands", which taught me such greats as "The Peony Bush", "149 Was the School for Me", "Civilization", and the Triplets song from Bandwagon. Our record drought ended after The Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan.
