(14,853 posts)I think they COULD pull it off, but it would need to be something like "Curb Your Enthusiasm", with a main character often getting berated by people from the far-left or whatever.
They'd have to play to their sense of perpetual victimhood about it, but portray the main character as a mostly hapless and misunderstood punching bag. Like Larry David screaming, "Nooo... that's not what I meant! Come back! Nooo!"
That approach might bother their authoritarian-types who'd be turned off by any displays of weakness, but I think their only hope in comedy is to make the main characters at least somewhat sympathetic.
Their sense of humor more often seems like something that would make a cruel Roman emperor laugh.
Edit: They should just stick with "America's Funniest Home Videos", laughing hysterically at the videos that show people getting hurt.

(14,853 posts)... what makes them laugh.
If they laugh about a random person getting hurt or whatever, I'll suspect it. Then it's almost always confirmed later when they happen to bring up their political views.

(2,217 posts)Comedy requires being able to look multiple sides of things and seeing the issues. Being able to see how others feel about things is the root of compassion. So it is not a Conservative thing.

(3,166 posts)I read a quote once, which was something like, "When the king slips on a banana peel, it's funny. When a little old lady does it, it's not."
Conservatives always punch down, never up. They never laugh at themselves or laugh at people in power. All of their "humor" is aimed toward the vulnerable and the meek. They come off as incredibly cruel, not funny.
Did Trump EVER tell a decent joke? Nope. He's not capable of laughing at himself.
Every time conservatives try to be funny, they come off as rude, cruel assholes.

The former White House communications director spent just 11 days on the job. Former President Donald Trump was so infamous for his hiring and firing that Scaramucci became a unit of measure by which employment under Trump was calculated.
Gutfeld was preempted by former Trumpster Larry Kudlow, who infamously screamed at Dr. Anthony Fauci for disagreeing hydroxychloroquine was a cure for COVID-19. Fauci ultimately was proved right, and Kudlow got a Fox News show.
The show from Gutfeld was an attempt to craft humor over liberal policies or progressive statements, but it has frequently fallen flat with the audience.
Again, this show was not funny and is the second time that Fox News tried to launch a comedy show. The first attempt-The Half Hour News Hour was really bad
