I'm afraid that Putin was right in his bet that he could expose the American people's commitment to democracy as being much more shallow than it appeared to be. Frankly, I don't know how fascism will finally be decisively defeated in our country - or if it will really be defeated at all. So far, Biden's strategy in dealing with the problem seems to be: Move on, and put it behind us. Give the people a taste of good ethical, responsible government, and they will forget about Trump and fascism. It's a good strategy in many ways, but really, I don't know if it will be sufficient, especially with some large segments of our society. Trump has also tapped into the dark national demons of racism to make the problem much worse than it would otherwise be.
