Former Harvard psychiatrist Lance Dodes warned recently that the ongoing psychosis that he sees in Donald Trump is still an enormous danger. This is the same kind of rhetoric that we are seeing from the judges hearing cases on the Capitol Rioters, and they all agree that as long as Trump is out there convincing gullible minds that reality is actually fake, the shared psychosis is going to lead to more violence. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

(205,467 posts)Impeachment Hearings! What can we do now?? Well, for the benefit of the country, elect a greater majority of Democrats to the Senate. But bringing down Trump now appears to be out of our hands, and we're dependent on the legal system to do its work. And it must be done for the future of the country.

(43,176 posts)Cousins has come a long way, his commentaries have more depth than ever before.
Question is, ok, so we know the psy profile of MAGA World - what do we do about it? Telling them they live in a fake reality seems good to me. Is it safe to tell them?

(111,270 posts)He's been removed from major social media platforms. That is a huge deal. Think about his stab at creating his own social media platform, it was so typical of him--cheap, one way communication, and you know he won't either pay or listen to experts. In addition, most of his fans are as lazy as he is and wanted that one click convenience of access on the browser screen. Nope.
Networks are no longer covering every burp and hiccup. He's had to crash weddings to find microphones. The harder he has to work to be seen and heard, the more ridiculous he looks. Nobody's covering his pep rallies, such as they are, and I've seen him given the treatment the networks reserve for Democrats---a description of where he is with a voice over that prevents the viewer from hearing anything he said. This is good.
From what I've read, the procession of Republicans in office pledging undying fealty to his eminence has slowed considerably, nobody's paying much attention to them, either, so the point has been lost.
He was always a creation of media and marketing, from his golden rich kid youth all the way through his pResidency. Now he's been cut off from media the Russians used to put him into power and the mainstream media are yawning. About the only time he's mentioned these days is when he's been handed another legal defeat. While a malignant narcissist will accept negative attention when no positive attention is forthcoming, even this isn't enough to feed him after the loss off office.
He's in a sort of withdrrawal state that makes drug and alcohol withdrawal seem trivial, they don't last as long. If this one is permanent, then his danger is being dealt with. Remember, he's conscienceless, not smart. He has never been smart.

(205,467 posts)According to Mary Trump's book, he became the face of his father's successful multi million dollar company after his father had done all the work. And for the first time since his father and grandmother started the company, they started bleeding money to bail out the former guy's failed schemes (casinos). He's always been a product of his own publicity, the sad thing is not just that he believes his own publicity, but that so many Americans were duped into believing it, too (FOX News).
