3. I thought I knew how much I despise Rand Paul but then I saw this video

and realized that his despicable nature goes far, far, far deeper than I had suspected. He is a lying windbag, not intelligent enough to engage a man of Dr. Fauci’s stature on a rational level.

I admire Dr. Fauci for his responses. Dr. Fauci responds to Pual's ignorant grandstanding -- and deliberately twisted -- attacks with dignity and righteous indignation. I enjoyed and quietly cheered the good doctor’s calling Senator Paul out for lying publicly.

5. A little learning is a dangerous thing and that's where Rand is at

Oh, he had to pass classes in virology and immunology but they were donkey's years ago and probably not a whole lot better than I got in nursing school. The field has exploded since HIV came on the scene and I doubt an ophthalmologist has kept up with the latest skull cracking information.

Of course they manipulated viruses. Of course, they tried growing them on human tissue. This is what cutting edge virology labs do, no matter where they are located. These labs provide the earliest information whenever a new bug is isolated among a cluster of human cases, they're already on the job. China is in the forefront of SARS research because they had the first serious outbreak of SARS Cov-1. They knew coronavirus was on the move and were actively researching how a more infectious version would react with human tissue.

Rand Paul is a dumbass, one of those guys who thinks he knows all but it's glaringly obvious he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about and is relying on right wing horseshit. Kudos to Dr. Fauci for calling him on it.

Virology got short shrift when I went to school, HIV was barely noticed as GRID in California and nobody knew what it was. The lectures also provide a good history of the early emergence of Covid and how wrong even highly educated people were when they tried to predict what it would do.

I would think that it goes both ways, doesn't it? A member of congress, I have to assume, must be liable for lying to Congress and the public, is it not?

He's not only served seven presidents but, along with dozens of medical awards, he was also presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2008)! If there's any greater honor, it really needs to be forthcoming, not just for his immense service to the nation, but for putting up with the past five years!
