I became a political activist about four months before that when I saw the TREASONOUS acts the Republicans were committing to defeat Carter and get Reagan into office. Reagan was merely a popular face and name the Republicans used as a parrot and puppet to be the front man. In all reality, it was the administration of HWBush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Pearle, and dozens of others that rolled out the new Republican Agenda. There were many of us who started screaming our heads off at what we saw was being done to our nation, our middle and lower classes, and Democracy. Those people mentioned continued their agenda year after year, made incredible progress during the W administration and continued in the shadows during the Trump years.

damage but old Dutch's two admins. opened the door to major demise for people and democracy. It hasn't stopped since. There has to be massive change, it can happen but will it and in time? When the Gipper was elected I was in DC, and the shock and disappointment continues. Work and hope in order to maintain the fight against fascist beasts is all I know.

Dumbest political slogan ever. And yet, so incredibly, devastatingly effective.

And to paraphrase Hunter S Thompson's suggestion on what he wanted done with Nixon.

If the right people had been in charge of Nixon's funeral, his casket would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning. Even his funeral was illegal. He was queer in the deepest way. His body should have been burned in a trash bin.

basically began the erosion process of "We the people," while giving the 1% and mega-corporations titles of nobility with ever increasing power over a citizenry that had all but been abandoned (whether consciously or not) by its' proclaimed representatives.

The public good was for the most part relegated to private interests.

With at best a very weakened "We the people" guardian and the news becoming profit driven divisions of the corporate media, that power vacuum in turn opened the door for celebrity Trump's rise to the Oval Office.

Reagan was a friendly face with a carcinogenic message that metastasized with Trump; and whoever else comes to follow his path.

Thanks for the thread appalachiablue.

The fact that he believed that and wanted to be in charge of it should have been huge red flag.

It's like thinking the wheels are going to fall off a car and insisting on being the one driving it when they do.
