The only things that cloud this moment somewhat are a) the grief the Afghani people are going through (which, sadly, was very much inevitable);
and b) the near-certainty that some future Repug president will stage something, to get us into another special interest-driven war.

(3,809 posts)Even as the MSM grovels for the puketard scum. I saw a picture of a young Afghan girl in tears and it just breaks my heart. I read about Afghan men laughing at the women, mocking them with promises of forced marriage.
I wish there could have been some way to train and arm the women in that country and turn THEM loose on the Taliban. Theyd be chasing them over the passes into Pakistan right now instead of the shitshow we see now. But all of this was put in place so many years ago.
