The Taliban didn't want us there, the national forces only wanted US military protection and only serve garrison-duty and most didn't want us there, at least half of everybody else don't want us there. We don't want us there.
We got it, and we'll be the only western occupying army to negotiate a way out of Afghanistan without having its backside bloodily kicked on the way out, till the last man left. Alexander the Great got HIS ass kicked by the Afghans. Great Britain and Russia got its butt kicked in the "Great Game". Both the Japanese and Germans left Afghanistan alone. And then Russia got kicked out once again.
Where's the big surprise?
But the ability of a Taliban central government already set and going, guaranteeing a treaty with the US for its withdrawal, actually says some bit of good about the Taliban.
Don't get me started.

(6,139 posts)Epic president - ended the longest war in US history, brought US troops home. Proud of Biden. RW is going out of their way because trump will never get credit for this.
