They just exceeded the highest number of deaths they had with the first wave of the pandemic.

All while having a working vaccine.

9. It's not just the perversity of obstructing efforts to control Covid-19

There’s clearly a political motive in there somewhere -- although, of course, the irony is that he’s enabling the disease to kill his own constituents. But there’s something I find more troubling about this man.

He is extraordinarily well educated, served as a JAG officer in the Navy, so I credit him with the ability to understand the consequences of his obstructive actions, the suffering, the pain, the anguish he is causing among his constituents.

My contention is -- you may challenge me on this -- that he actually enjoys the suffering and the pain and the anguish, enjoys knowing that so much of it is occurring solely because of his obstruction, solely because of his political work against the vaccine, against even mask mandates -- even in schools.

Like Loser-45 and the entire former Administration, cruelty is top topic on his agenda, the singular most important point of it.

I think he takes pleasure just knowing he has both the power to cause so much pain among all Floridians and the sadistic will to exercise it. I also think the sadistic pleasure is heightened significantly by the knowledge that his very cruelty is also strengthening his run for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

Although I'm an agnostic, I believe in the existence of good and evil. DeSantis, and many other Republicans, fall into the category of pure evil.

and something to be admired.

... 'How does one man assert his power over another, Winston?'

Winston thought. 'By making him suffer,' he said.

'Exactly. By making him suffer. Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own? Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.

They have 3100 deaths in car accidents per year in Florida.
And they are just getting warmed up.

People lacking common sense, lacking even the most basic survival instincts, in the face of an only-slightly deadly pandemic... I'm so fed up.
