Democratic ads should have footage of Republicans cursing and threatening school board members. They should have pictures of the most ridiculous people at those rallies. Really make them look as scary as possible. Voters should see the Democrats as the people who are keeping them from hurtling into the abyss.

“Fight.”

I’ve had lengthy discussions with a well-known poster here who professes to not even know what that means. Watch Garland v. Blackburn yesterday and you’ll see that he’s not alone.

He and the Republicans weren't able to articulate a compelling message for why they should be kept in power. Bill Clinton and the Democrats had that message that year and that's why they won. (And Ross Perot running as a third part candidate helped a LOT, of course.)

more than just descriptions of what happened, or what is occurring, or how it makes a mockery of the nation's history and sacrifices and armed conflicts. He is right. Democrats need the emotion of a culture war, we have to do some finger pointing and demonizing of the opposition all by ourselves, we have to not be violent, nasty, or obnoxious, we have to be mean and we have to be strong, united behind a purpose that is clearly defined with an agenda that is antithetical to "them".

Medicare for All? A living wage for workers? Addressing climate change? Republicans keep invoking the “radical left”, and I’ve even seen some posts here on DU that use the term. There is no radical left in the US. Almost all progressive causes are supported by a large majority of Americans. In a democracy that means these positions are mainstream. The word “radical” comes from a Latin word meaning root. A radical wants to fundamentally change the system — at its roots. That’s what the right is trying to do. Progressive causes in this country are considered self-evident and centrist in Europe and other parts of the world. They’re not even controversial. Schmidt is stealthily presenting a standard right wing framing of the issues by diverting our attention with outrage over the radical extremism of the right.

put Steve Schmidt and Rick Wilson in charge of Democratic messaging. We're sometimes just too nice. I always appreciated our goodness, our ethics, our morality... but this is a (yes) fight for our very democracy. It's worth doing absolutely everything we can to keep it.

Over and over he talks about lifting up regular people and being anti-hate. Of saving the climate so people can live on this planet. He talks about how trickle down doesn't work and how unions make us strong. He and many other Dems talk about the moral depravity of a small number of people making billions while the rest of America (and the world) suffers. It's not either/or Dem culture war and infrastructure bills. It's both, and both are damned good.

I'd like to know what, exactly, the bad guys have won since last January. They may be more organized. They're always organized. In part because they have big money backing. But what has that won them since the last election? All it's won them, imho, is a big black eye because of 1/6.

Right now all of the major media is controlled by right wing ownership/ That means you will get a steady diet of right wing based news. And it doesn't cost them a cent. Democrats have to pay for their messaging so the playing field is not level. And that is not about to change. And quality in messaging rather than quantity.

Fix typing issue.

Our Democratic Senators and House Members need to start not answering the question posed. This is something GOP talking heads and politicians do quite well.

Launch into what has been accomplished and advise that not a single member of the GOP voted for it. It's shameful that they are against the average American.

THEN they get around to what the interviewer wants -- and they should lie to their faces and say -

We were all onboard and I don't know what this nonsense about disarray in the Democratic Party is about.

Unfortunately, Democratic Politicians are decent human beings and don't play these messaging games.

It's not that the process is, in itself, a problem. The issue is the speed at which the process operates: slow, slower, slowest.

We are dealing with scoundrels, dropping sharp nails in our path as they speed away and commit more villainry. We haven't even had a real opportunity to adjudicate the Russian connection in the 2016 election and we're now confronted with investigating an insurgency to overthrow the 2020 election. The bad guys have upped their pace and we're still clinging on to the hope that Merrick Garland will save this country from the neo-fascists who wish to claim it, being told to respect his position and his work and not ask too many questions.

And that is the recipe for losing the battle.

No....I don't have a solution. But our congressmen and -women should. It's not about playing nice. It's about being AFRAID, VERY VERY AFRAID, of the consequences of lolligagging at this critical point in our nation's history. That's not hyperbole.
