(205,927 posts)But even more than that, it's totally beyond my comprehension what anyone sees in the blatantly offensive former guy who Jordan constantly defends. I remember when Jordan went on camera to defend him at the first impeachment hearing. That sticks in my mind because he was breathlessly joined by my ridiculous current Rep, Elise Stefanik - that was her initial "claim to (national) fame" and she's gone full-on TFG ever since.
I never did understand why anyone would consider such a clueless and offensive jerk for any public office, let alone in a leadership position. My only experience seeing him before was an appearance on David Letterman. Dave always claimed to know nothing about politics, but he managed to straighten out this fool of a guest when he started ranting about "the mosque at Ground Zero." And then I remembered that I had seen him before, Dave used to have a game he played with passers-by his studio where they could win prizes, he'd show them three photos of tops of heads with hair and they had to guess "Trump or Monkey??" Players seldom won...

(205,927 posts)He was always a favorite of mine. In fact, back in 2008 I was in his studio audience, I was impressed at how nice he was. He came out and answered audience questions before the show and and afterwards, even after 30 years, he came out and thanked everyone for coming. And of course he's very funny...

(28,125 posts)Wow! Impressed that you were there during a filming of the show.
(My son was once in Colbert's audience. Said he didn't interact with the audience at all. That was disappointing.)
One of my favorite repeat guest of Letterman's, especially at this time of year......
An interview with her.....

(205,927 posts)She was always a favorite, he had several. And then there was Jay Thomas who had to knock the meatball off the top of the Christmas Tree! I also used to work with CBS for my job, wrote up the TV listings for the newspapers. I had to call to find out who was on, made me nuts if there was no one scheduled by my deadline, I used to suggest interesting people.

If he's primaried he could be in trouble but outside of that, if he's in a Republican district, he will be voted back in automatically.
