It just is. Violence is how they demonstrate displeasure &/or envy.
Sadly, it is transgenerational.
With organized shoplifting, car jackings, etc.
This is what happens when perps are not prosecuted to the fullest & sentenced to the max.
Here in this area, people vandalize, especially cars & commit acts of violence just to "have fun!" 
Never seen anything like it.
I must have my grandson sit in my car while I go into grocery store as a deterent. This is a pretty common practice here for 1 adult to stay in the car which, obviously, makes doing things together impossible.
Several months ago, a group of teens shot & killed the president of the chamber of commerce leaving a meeting downtown. When questioned, they said they were "just having fun."
Yikes!
And the judges keep letting violent perps back out on the streets!
The perp was sentenced to 5 years for murder in 2017.
Wtf was he out on the street?
And I never thought I'd say it, but I'm sure grateful we have her!
