shows in cultures that are wealthy like both Japan and Germany in the '90's and 2000's couple enjoyed their wealth rather than raising a family so both nations had to start allowing for more immigrants and Germany began PAYING couple to have kids.
On the other side of the same coin, where poverty is far wider than in the U S, people have kids and more more kids as a form of a safety net.
People in poverty-wide cultures have kids to help them when they are older, or sick, or to earn a wage when the parents are too old work.
Those cultures do not however offer the range of opportunity and social mobility as in the U S, so we can understand why that is.
The U S has a wealthy class that can be unattainable by couples if they are unable to get an education or are less flexible due to having children.
Perhaps those in power were confused by the data. Not having enough workers forces employers to pay more now!
But yeah, Beau of 5th is absolutely right. Kids are really expensive and our economic and education policies aren't helping the situation.
