A Chinese attack on Taiwan is not imminent, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley has said, but the US is watching "very closely".
China is clearly developing the capability to attack at some point, but deciding to do so would be a political choice, General Milley told the BBC.
China says Taiwan is a breakaway province that must be re-unified with the mainland, by force if necessary.

(32,787 posts)Take Ukraine. All agree that they will support Ukraine as long as it takes. Its not just NATO, but a coalition of 100 countries supporting Ukraine.
Russia has made some territorial gains, but at a huge cost which was Ukraines plan all along. In war its called trading space for time. When a huge force admittedly throwing everything they have into taking a few insignificant cities theyre in deep trouble.
When Ukraine starts their counter offensives in August or early September- a large number of troops expected to be ready, and a sufficient number of heavy weaponry in place the Russians will be pushed back.
In the meantime, Ukraine removes Russian forces from snake island and gets closer to Kherson everyday. Which is much more important as it is a vital supply line for Russia from Crimea.
